Academics
Our programs are built on a framework drawn from Relational and Radical Transactional Analysis and from Affirmative and Inclusive theories, which centre people who have been marginalised, along with queer thought, sociology and anthropology.
We designed them to answer two gaps. Mental health training and services are out of reach for many, and rest largely on western ideas that rarely fit our context. And where caste, gender, sexuality and class do appear in training, they are often electives, not the starting point.
Across all our programs, from the four-year training to shorter programs and workshops, we train practitioners to keep the client’s social context at the centre of their work, so that their practice is affirmative, inclusive and anti-oppressive.
Our Programs
Transactional Analysis 101 helps you understand yourself, and the world that shaped you. Over two days, you’ll explore the patterns of thinking, feeling and behaving that you carry into your relationships, and ask why you keep repeating some of them. You’ll also look at how family, culture and society have left their mark on who you’ve become: the messages you absorbed, the roles you were handed and the beliefs you now take for granted. Using the practical language of Transactional Analysis, you’ll learn to tell what is truly yours from what was given to you, so you can make more conscious choices and build relationships that are more meaningful and fulfilling. Certified by the International Transactional Analysis Association (ITAA), this foundational workshop is open to anyone curious about themselves, whether for personal growth or for work in counselling, education, organisations or psychotherapy.

TA 101

Relationship That Heals: Relational TA perspectives for mental health practitioners
This workshop focuses on understanding the fundamental tenets of relational psychotherapy, developing a relational approach in Transactional Analysis (TA), and developing a relational lens to one’s approach of working. This brings to centre stage what happens in the intersubjective space of the therapeutic relationship, where the key is understanding the language of the unconscious, to make meaning of what is pre-verbal, implicit and non-conscious. It is for mental health practitioners, who are keen to learn a relational approach to therapy, and who have the curiosity to work with the emergent, the unknown and sometimes the unknowable in the here and now of the therapeutic relationship. Workshop hours can be counted towards Continuous Professional Development (CPD) hours.
Who can attend: Practicing psychotherapists with a minimum of 100 application hours, who are interested in understanding the relational principles of working within Transactional Analysis theory.
Duration: two full days
Fees: Rs. 7000/- plus 18% GST
Relationship That Heals
Perspectives on the unconscious dynamics that emerge between us and our clients
An opportunity to explore our work with clients from a socio-political lens.
As we work with individuals and groups, we try to help them find their way out of psychological pain. We draw on many valuable theoretical models to understand the internal world.
But we are part of the same social and political systems as our clients, built on patriarchy, a dominant class, caste or race, and capitalist frameworks.
So it is important to explore the context of our clients, of ourselves, and the interplay between us.
Even as we hold this idea, it is easy to split into “the Oppressed” and “the Oppressor.” This furthers the fragmentation alive in the system and within the inner worlds of clients.
In this workshop we will explore:
-
ideas of “cure” and “mental well-being”, and their impact on clients
-
the intersecting identities that both client and we hold
-
introjected, intersectional oppression at three levels: intrapsychic, interpersonal and societal

Oppression Inside Out
Understanding Gender and Sexuality: How We Came to a Binary World
How did we come to think of gender and sexuality as we do? This workshop traces how they were formed, drawing on anthropological perspectives, and how heterosexuality came to be placed at the centre while other sexualities were pushed to the margins. We look at how this shaped ideas of what is normal and what is abnormal, and at its impact on mental health: the stress, shame and erasure carried by those who fall outside the centre, and the repression and control that bind everyone within it. We also turn to ourselves as practitioners: how these ideas live in us, and in the way we sit with our clients.
Who can attend: Mental Health Practitioners and Curious beings who want to understand this!
Duration: two full days
Fees: Rs. 7000/- plus 18% GST
A four-year training that builds ethical, professional, socio-politically informed psychotherapists committed to anti-oppressive practice. It is informed by radical-relational perspectives in Transactional Analysis, which hold that the individual carries the symptoms of a sick society, and so keeps the client’s context centre stage. The curriculum focuses on the socio-cultural-political context in India, and combines theory, skills and experience of working on live community projects. No prior psychotherapy or counselling experience is required. Participants can earn the SAATA Diploma, the MH-TAP, and, on completing the stipulated hours, the Certified Transactional Analyst (CTA) in psychotherapy.
4-Year Advanced Transactional Analysis Training in Psychotherapy
Our programs are offered in layers, for individuals and for mental health practitioners. Some help us understand ourselves and the world that shaped us. Others deepen the work of practitioners through a social lens. And one builds the next generation of psychotherapists.
Each begins with the same hope: to reclaim our minds from the ideas that told us our distress was normal, or ours alone to carry.
What would you do with a mind that is your own?
